The Dark Town

Mordai is a town shrouded in mystery. It is not publicly known where it is located or how to get there. It is a town spoken of only in whispers. The only reason people are aware of its existence is because its spy network is famous. Traveling merchants from Mordai do not sell wares or materials, but secrets and information. History
Tieflings are presumed to be the first inhabitants of Mordai. No one had ever heard of Mordai until the first tieflings had arrived in Avensuna. Tiefling spies and merchants would travel throughout the land, but they kept the truths of Mordai close to their chest. It is said that there are grave consequences for anyone from Mordai who talks about the town openly. It is plain to see however that Tieflings make up the majority of people from Mordai.
Elves’ limber bodies and delicate sensibilities make them well suited for spycraft and intrigue. The most talented of these elves were able to ascertain the whereabouts of Mordai. These elves would set out to go find Mordai, but would never return back to their homes. It is presumed that these elves over time integrated themselves into the large spy network of Mordai. Over the decades the amount of elven spies from Mordai has grown rapidly, suggesting that a sizable population of elves now lives in Mordai.
One of the defining aspects of people from Mordai is that they use a special kind of dark metal with their weapons. This strange material seems to originate from within the town of Mordai itself. A long time ago a settlement was reached between Voldhor and Mordai. In exchange for critical information, Voldhor sent a large collection of smiths and artisans to Mordai. The people of Mordai were looking for skilled crafters to help them harness their special material. Nowadays a lot of merchants from Mordai are dwarves. Most people seem to be less cautious around a dwarf merchant than a tiefling merchant.
